RMU Partakes in its First Oktoberfest: By Emily Booth

Tis the season for cooler days, colorful leaves — and seasonal beers, of course. The town of Breckenridge kicked off this year’s Fall season with their 23rd Oktoberfest, while RMU got to partake in their first. And what a better place to celebrate the famed German festival than RMU’s very own beer garden? Oops, we meant, Biergarten. We kicked the weekend off with a tap-takeover featuring two of Germany’s most famous breweries, Bayreuther and Maisel's Weisse. Both breweries hail from the very region Oktoberfest originated, giving patrons the opportunity to taste a few of the most authentic German beers in town. If a taste wasn’t enough, we offered 2.5 liter glass boots as a vessel of choice too. Hey, Oktoberfest only...

The Grrowler, the World's First Water Bowl that Turns into a Dog Collar

When we introduced The Grrowler, a dog collar with a water bowl built in, people said, "Are you freaking kidding me? You're telling me no one has thought of this yet?" Well, Men's Journal called it "Best in Show at Outdoor Retailer". This patent pending product is a solution to the most common issues dog lovers face while on an adventure.  Outside Magazine said the Grrowler was the "best invention of all time". The concept is easy. We designed a dog collar that has a built in water bowl, with room for a spare leash (included) and doggie convince bags. To use it, simply unzip the top and bottom, open the bowl and pour in the water.  Check out what others are saying...

Episode 1: Surfing + Powder Skis

RMU is known for going off of the beaten path in design. In 2010, RMU's hand-crafted Apostle won Innovation in Design at ISPO, setting the stage for what was to come in the near future. Since then, their creativity has soared with the Grrowler and Core Pack. So when RMU was ready to design a new ski, there was no hesitation in innovation and creativity. In Episode 1, RMU challenged Ben Smith and Ethan Swadburg to come up with their next powder ski design. After finding inspiration in surfing, the boys headed to San Diego and Mexico to learn more. They teamed up with Big Wave Surfer, Andrew Matthews, and Shaper Studios owner, Chris Clark to discover what is was that surfing and skiing...

RMU Hut Trip to Opus Huts

S: Mike Poleto | P: Scott Bellow By Morgan Dinsdale“Everybody up!” shouted Fino, aka Bryan Finocchiaro, gazing out the window on our first morning at the OPUS Hut deep in the San Juan Mountains. “There are some things you’re going to want right now; a poop, a water bottle and your camera. It’s almost bluebird and wait ‘til you see how much snow it dumped last night!” Without missing a beat Gary Fondl responds; “The forecast says 100% chance of facials, and I’m the weatherman!” “The forecast says 100% chance of facials, and I’m the weatherman!” S: Gary Fondl | P: Scott Bellow The giddiness across the group was palpable. Tucked into the hillside of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, our RMU crew was abuzz, ecstatic...
